About Our Trees

Fresh, Farm-Grown Christmas Trees

Are your Christmas trees freshly cut?

Yes. Our trees are freshly harvested for each collection run and are generally cut within approximately 48 hours of leaving the farm.

Trees are placed into a protective netting sock for transport. Once you remove the sock at home, give the branches a few hours to relax back into their natural position.

Where is your Christmas tree farm?

Hillview Christmas Trees is grown on our family farm in the hills near Tamworth, NSW, close to Dungowan.

We grow the trees ourselves — they are not bought in from another Christmas tree grower.

What type of Christmas trees do you grow?

Our Christmas trees are Radiata Pine, grown specifically for use as ornamental Christmas trees.

They are grown outdoors and shaped as they develop, so every tree has its own natural character.

What Christmas tree sizes do you have?

We generally offer four size ranges. Availability varies between locations and from season to season.

Small 1.5–1.8m
Medium 1.8–2.1m
Large 2.1–2.4m
Extra Large 2.4m+

For a standard 2.4m ceiling, a Medium tree is often a good fit once you allow room for your tree stand and topper.

Can I request a particular Christmas tree shape?

Every real tree is unique, so we can't guarantee an exact shape or perfectly symmetrical tree.

That's part of the charm of buying a real tree. Most trees also have a side that naturally presents best — and if there's a side you like less, that's what walls are for!

Can I visit the farm and choose my own Christmas tree?

No. Our farm is a working agricultural property and, for safety and operational reasons, we don't currently offer public choose-and-cut visits.

Customers order through their selected location and we harvest and prepare the trees for collection or delivery, depending on the service available in that area.

Ordering & Collection

Ordering Your Christmas Tree

Can I reserve a Christmas tree in advance?

Yes. Christmas 2026 orders can be placed online through our shop.

We recommend ordering early, particularly if you want a specific size. The number of trees available each season depends on growth, weather and what is ready for harvest.

How early should I order my real Christmas tree?

Earlier is better. Popular locations and tree sizes can sell out before Christmas.

Ordering early also gives you the best choice of available sizes and collection options.

How much does a real Christmas tree cost?

Pricing varies depending on tree size, location, freight and the collection or delivery arrangements for that area.

Rather than quoting prices here that may become outdated, the current Christmas 2026 price for every size is shown on the relevant product page when ordering.

Do you deliver Christmas trees?

Delivery arrangements vary by region.

Most Hillview locations operate as scheduled collection points, while selected areas — including parts of our Mid North Coast service — may have home-delivery options.

Always check your chosen product page for the current delivery or collection arrangements before ordering.

When and where do I collect my Christmas tree?

The exact collection location, date and time are shown on your chosen product when you order.

Please check these details carefully. Our collection windows are scheduled around transport runs and community groups, so arriving during the nominated time is important.

What payment methods do you accept?

Online orders are processed securely through Stripe using the payment options available at checkout.

For approved bulk or organisational orders, alternative payment arrangements may be available by contacting us directly.

Do you offer bulk Christmas tree orders?

Yes. If you're interested in a larger quantity of trees for a business, event, organisation or community group, please contact us directly.

Bulk arrangements and pricing are considered individually.

Looking After the Real Thing

Are Real Christmas Trees Hard to Care For?

Not at all.

Make a fresh cut of around 2cm from the bottom of the trunk, place it into plain water immediately and keep the water topped up.

Avoid excessive heat, hot windows, fireplaces and strong direct airflow. That's essentially the secret to looking after a real tree.

We recommend allowing around three weeks for a Hillview Christmas Tree to be at its freshest.

Christmas Tree Care FAQs

Keeping Your Tree Fresh

How long does a real Christmas tree last?

With the right care, we recommend allowing around three weeks for a Hillview Christmas Tree to look its freshest.

Consistent access to water and avoiding excessive heat are the two most important things you can do.

Should I cut the bottom of my Christmas tree?

Yes. Make a fresh, straight cut of approximately 2cm from the bottom of the trunk and place the tree into water immediately.

What should I put in Christmas tree water?

Plain fresh water is best. There is no need to add sugar, preservatives or other products.

Can I transport my Christmas tree in a ute?

Yes, but please don't put your tree directly onto a hot metal ute tray.

Bring an old towel, blanket or mat to protect the tree from the heat during transport.

Do you sell Christmas tree stands?

Yes. We sell purpose-made Cinco Christmas Tree Stands with a water reservoir, which makes supporting and watering a real tree much easier.

Shop Christmas Tree Stands →

Do real Christmas trees drop needles?

A small amount of needle drop is normal. A real Christmas tree is a natural product.

If your tree appears to be drying excessively, check that the stand hasn't run out of water and that the tree isn't sitting beside a strong heat source.

How should I decorate a real Christmas tree?

Once your tree is secured in its stand, remove the netting and give the branches a few hours to relax.

Then make it yours. Traditional, colourful, simple or sophisticated — the best Christmas tree is the one that feels special to your family.

Grown on the Farm

Sustainability & Real Christmas Trees

Are your Christmas trees sustainably grown?

Our Christmas trees are a farm-grown crop. Trees harvested for Christmas are replaced with future plantings as part of the ongoing growing cycle at Hillview.

A real Christmas tree can also be chipped or composted after Christmas rather than stored or sent to landfill as a permanent synthetic product.

What should I do with my real tree after Christmas?

Local green-waste arrangements vary between councils, but real trees can generally be chipped or composted where suitable facilities are available.

Check your local council's Christmas tree or green-waste guidance for your area.

Clubs & Community Groups

Interested in Bringing Hillview Christmas Trees to Your Area?

Many of our regional collection points work with local clubs and community organisations.

We are happy to hear from suitable clubs, schools, sporting groups and community organisations interested in discussing Christmas tree fundraising or a future collection location.

Freight, tree quantities and logistics vary considerably between locations, so new areas are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Important Collection Information

Changes, Missed Collections & Tree Concerns

Please read the collection information on your product carefully before ordering.

Collection times matter.

Hillview collection points operate during specific scheduled windows. If you don't attend within the nominated collection period and haven't made an arrangement with us in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, your tree may be forfeited without refund.

Can I cancel or change my Christmas tree order?

Yes, but requests to cancel or change an online order must be made in writing by email at least 5 days before your scheduled collection or delivery date.

Please include your order number so we can locate your order. An administration fee may apply to an approved change-of-mind cancellation, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.

What if there is a problem with my Christmas tree?

Because Christmas trees are fresh, perishable and naturally variable products, we don't offer general returns simply because a tree's natural shape is different from what you expected.

If you believe your tree was damaged before collection, is significantly unusable, or otherwise has a genuine problem, please contact us by email within 12 hours of collection or delivery where reasonably possible.

Please include your order number and at least three clear photographs, including photos showing the overall tree and the specific area of concern.

Any refund, return or exchange request will be assessed in accordance with our Terms & Conditions and applicable consumer law. If a replacement is approved, replacement trees are available from the Hillview farm near Tamworth; where returning the tree is not reasonably practical, a refund may be considered instead.

What if my tree hasn't been cared for correctly?

We can't guarantee how an individual real tree will perform in every home environment.

Trees that have been left without water, exposed to excessive heat or otherwise not cared for according to our Care Guide may not be eligible for a return or exchange.
