Our Christmas Tree Story Started Here on the Coffs Coast
Coffs Harbour isn't simply another collection point for us. It's where our family's Christmas tree story began.
Around 20 years ago, Kim's mum came home with what the family still describes as a rather expensive twig being sold as a Christmas tree. Having grown up in England, she wanted a genuine real tree at Christmas — and Kim's dad, Wayne Duver, could see there was an opportunity to grow something better locally.
He started with just 100 seedlings.
Those first trees eventually grew into North Coast Christmas Trees at Coramba, just outside Coffs Harbour. Over the years, the farm became part of Christmas for many families across the Coffs Coast.
After Kim's mum sadly passed away from cancer and Wayne began looking towards retirement, the Coramba Christmas tree farm was sold. But the idea of growing real Christmas trees never really left the family.
When Rob and Kim bought Hillview near Tamworth in 2021, one of the first things they did was start planting Christmas trees again — drawing on Wayne's years of experience and continuing what Kim's parents had begun on the Coffs Coast.
Our first Hillview trees were planted in the winter of 2021 and were ready for their first harvest in 2024. So when our truck heads back to Coffs Harbour each December, it feels very much like we're bringing part of the family story home.
